King Janamejaya was the son of Parikshit and great-grandson of Arjuna. Parikshit died from a snake/serpent-bite, hence Janamejaya performed a great sacrifice of serpents (nāgas). Janamejaya also conquered the Nāga people of Taksha-sīla and is also called Sarpa-sattrin
