Biographical note
Michele S. was the first case of cryptophthalmos encountered by George Fraser in March 1960, when she was aged 5. He was closely involved in ensuring the surgical treatment of her ears which led to her acquiring hearing for the first time at age of 6, and he followed her case thereafter. He was reunited with her in October 2005.
