About this work

Description

In addition to the volume of notes are two printed pages which were found folded and tucked in at the back of the volume (identified in January 2011). The first page relates to antimony preparations and the second relates to mercury preparations. These two metals were drug simples that were used frequently in pharmaceuticals during the eighteenth century. The two documents are excellent representatives of the paper teaching tools used during this time (most of these tools have been lost) and two of the few extant specimens that demonstrate how medical students actually learned chemistry and other relevant subjects.
