About this work

Description

A large-scale colour picture of a human body showing acupuncture and moxibustion points created by Henjuken Keian, a 17th century acupunturist. The work has been taken from a 17th century manuscript and later remounted onto a modern textile and paper scroll. The drawing is supposedly based on the two Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion texts, the Tong ren zhen jiu jing (銅人鍼灸經) by Wang Weiyi (王惟一), fl. 11th century, and the Ming tang jiu jing (明堂灸經).
