About this work

Description

Large plan on paper, coloured. It is noted that this plan was surveyed and drawn March 1915, revised June 1921 and revised again in December 1953. Format is the same as in the plans in RET 2/1/24/5 and RET 2/1/24/6, showing in great detail the layout of the grounds and gardens. The gardens are divided into Divisions 1-10. Division 1 is the Front Garden Division 2 is the Ladies Terrace Division 3 is the Kitchen Garden Division 4 is the West Side Plantation Division 5 is the South Side Plantation Division 6 is the Cricket Field Division 7 is the Rockery and Cemetery Division 8 is the East Field Division 9 is the North East Boundary and Courtyards Division 10 is Lodge Field. The more recent changes within the gardens are noted, for example the Bedford Pierce Memorial Rose Walk and the Cemetery extension. This plan seems to be unfinished, since the trees are not individually shown.
