    Wilson's Improved Stench Trap. our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, in the thirty- ninth year of Her reign, did, for Herself, Her heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, the said Matthew Wilson, Her special licence that I, the said Matthew Wilson, my executors, administrators, and 5 assigns, or such others as*I, the said Matthew Wilson, my executors, administrators, and assigns, should at any time agree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times thereafter during the i term therein expressed, should and lawfully might make, use, exercise, and vend, within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, 10 the Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for “ An Improved Stench Trap,” upon the condition (amongst others) that I, the said Matthew Wilson, my executors or administrators, by an instrument in writing under my, or their, or one of their hands and seals, should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, 15 and in what manner the same was to be performed, and cause the same to be filed in the Great Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent. NOW KNOW YE, that I, the said Matthew Wilson, do hereby declare the nature of my said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be 20 performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement, reference being had to the accompanying Drawing forming a part of this Specification :— My said Invention relates to an improved stench trap, which I call a “ double seal stench trap,”, and which will be found very efficient for 25 preventing the entrance of noxious gases from sewers or drains into dwelling houses and other places, and which is simple and inexpensive, and not liable to derangement or the displacement or loss of any of the parts through the carelessness of servants or otherwise. The said Invention is carried into practice as shewn in the accom- 30 panying Drawing, which is a vertical section of my improved stench trap. The outer case a is formed of cast iron, lead, or other suitable material. The said case has a perforated cover or grating b, which is readily removable for the purpose of cleaning the trap.
