REPORT OF THE MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH For the four weeks, March 1st to March 28th, 1903; being the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Weeks of the Registration Year, 1903. COUNCIL. Sir, and Gentlemen, 1. I have to report that 269 births (males 140, females 129), and 215 deaths (males 95, females 120), were registered in the four weeks ended March 28th. After making due allowance for increase of population, the births were 29 and the deaths 53 below the numbers registered in the corresponding weeks in the previous ten years. The births were equivalent to an annual rate of 19.6 per 1.000 persons living, or 1.9 per 1,000 below the decennial average (21.5). The deaths were equivalent to an annual rate of 15.7 per 1,000, or 3.9 per 1,000 below the decennial average (19.6). The rate in the successive weeks was 11.7, 19.9, 16.7, and 14.6. The death-rate in the Metropolis was 16.6 per 1,000; 0.9 above the rate in Kensington, and 5.4 below the decennial average (22.0).
