About this work
Description
The tales are taken from around the world with examples from Australia, Arabia, China, England, Korea, Mexico and Maya. For example, the Arabian tale proposes that patients suffering from colds and whooping cough should drink asses milk and the English tale proposes a cure for whooping cough, boils or rheumatism where the patient must crawl under an arch formed by a bramble.
The tales are taken from the following publications: T. A. Hammerton, Peoples of all Nations; M. W. Hilton-Simpson, Arab Medicine and Surgery; The History of Chinese Medical Science, (author not given); Cornelius Osgood, Koreans and their Culture; E. W. Hawkes, The Labrador Eskimo; Victor W. Von Hagen, World of Maya and from a publication by Funk and Wagnall (title not given).
