Biographical note

In September 1979, a consultative document on the FPA's future, issued by the then Director, Dorothy White, was circulated throughout the FPA for consideration and comment. In November 1979 the FPA's National Executive Committee set up a Working Party under the chairmanship of Dr Robert Snowdon, joint Director of the Institute of Population Studies at Exeter University to consider proposals for the future of the FPA and to report back. Working Party members were selected to represent the views of the NEC, FPA staff based in London and the Regional Administrators. The resulting report: "The future of the FPA" was accepted as FPA policy by the National Council in March 1980.
