About this work

Description

This committee under the chairmanship of Mrs Justice Lane met between 1971 and 1975 and reported in 1974. The papers here are predominantly those which were accumulated by Mrs Eva Learner, one of the members of the Committee, who donated them to Institute of Medical Sociology in Aberdeen, to be included with the ALRA archives. Along with the rest of the ALRA archives they were transferred to the custody of the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre of the Wellcome Institute in December 1982, and a new list superseded that made by Mrs Aitken Swan in 1980. Some items are RESTRICTED: they have been removed from their place in sequence and filed separately.

In 1990 the CMAC approached by Dame Josephine Barnes, who had also been on the Committee. Those of her Lane Committee papers which filled in gaps may be found at C.112-126. It should be noted that there are still some lacunae.
