About this work

Description

Papers relating to the issue of medical responsibility in relation to social workers acting under their own professional responsibility without medical cover in the assessment and treatment of patients by psychotherapy, and the role of consultants. Includes minutes of meetings, correspondence, memos, reports, journal articles. This was in connection with Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Area Health Authority (Teaching) by which Rosen was employed. Rosen was Chairman of the Consultant's Committee of the Paddington Centre for Psychotherapy and represented doctors interests (he was also Chairman of the PCP). File covers the relationship between social workers and consultant staff in the context of professional responsibility for cases at the Paddington Centre for Psychotherapy, contentious relationships between medical and non-medical staff and accountability of social workers and the role of the consultant. The matter involved the Medical Defence Union and the Medical Protection Society and includes correspondence with them.
