Description
Photograph of a printed flyleaf, after a watercolour by Jan Goeree, from an unidentified book, possibly depicting a mythological scene and portrait of Antonus Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723), Dutch microbiologist, with inscription in Dutch above dated 30 April 1690 and signed by Leeuwenhoek. This reproduction was made during the VI International Congress for the History of Medicine held in Leiden 1927 at the Exposition d'art Medico-Historique and is described as Dessin [Drawing] 48, Vignette d'un livre, avec un autographe de Leeuwenhoek..., in the exhibition catalogue.
