Formulae for essence used in "British Odol"

"Old" and "New" formulae, both dated 15 February, 1919, and both signed by Karl B Edwards, Director of Laboratory Staff.

With a covering letter (24 February) from JAH to Mr Sargeaunt: the new formula "was the attempt which Mr Edwards recently made to improve the formula, firstly with the idea, as he considered, of arriving more closely at certain features in the Odol flavour which had been very elusive, and secondly with the idea of cheapening the product ... but we only had one batch of this made, and it was generally considered by us here that the original formula was best, so the original was reverted to."
