About this work

Description

Correspondence with veterinary surgeons following use of distemper vaccine. The correspondence is a sample (made some time prior to the present catalogue) from alphabetical files. The correspondents sampled have surnames beginning "M", "N" and "O".

Typical problems arising are abscess formation at the site of injection, and death from suspected distemper. In the latter case, the carcass of the dog was, whenever possible, sent to WPRL for examination, and the files include, in some cases, results of findings.

Some WPRL letters are from Major T Dalling or Dr R A O'Brien, and others are from the "Verterinary Superintendent". Files also contain internal memoranda from Burroughs Wellcome & Co to WPRL at Beckenham.
