Description

Various letters concerning Committee meetings.

Includes reference to penicillin flown to Italy at the request of Brigadier Hugh Parkinson, in charge of Allied Control Commission in Italy. Also, three letters on the removal of lactose from baby food and its replacement with sucrose (lactose was utilised in the production of penicillin) - "The Ministry of Health agrees with the view of the Penicillin Committee that no public statement be asked for at present." And estimates of the amount of penicillin required for emergency civilian needs in England and Wales.

In addition, a memorandum (5 pages) written by Dr F Hartley entitled "Penicillin" describing a method for the production only of "Penicillin crude filtrate".
