Correspondence with Francis Crick, and related papers, chiefly concerning past and present DNA research, including: copies of Wilkins’ letters to James Watson, 6 Oct 1966, and to Francis Crick, 30 Oct 1967, about Watson’s planned book, subsequently published as The double helix: a personal account of the discovery of the structure of DNA (Atheneum, New York, 1968); letters from Wilkins to Crick, 1 May and 8 Nov 1968, urging Crick to participate in an educational film on DNA; photocopy letter from Crick to Francois Gros, Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique, Paris, France, 19 Mar 1969, criticising the European Committee of Scientists for Democracy in Greece; correspondence, 1969-1970, relating to the refutation of Tai Te Wu’s theory of a four-strand helical structure for DNA, rather than a double helix, and to their reactions to an article by Jerry Donohue, ‘Fourier analysis and the structure of DNA’, published in Science, 12 Sep 1969; photocopy article by Crick, ‘The double helix: a personal view’, published in Nature, Apr 1974, with extensive annotations by Wilkins.
