Description

Letters and papers collected by the Rolleston family, together with a few items of Rolleston family papers. They include a commission of Robert Rolleston as an ensign of infantry at Fort St George [Madras], 1805, and a letter to the Revd George Rolleston, Vicar of Maltby, from James Montgomery concerning collections for Sheffield General Infirmary 1843. Also included are letters of John Richardson, Sir John Franklin (Arctic explorer), Thomas Chalmers and Sir John William Lubbock (on his attempts with the nascent art of photography, February 1839), and leaves from an autograph album begun by Humphry Rolleston in 1876.
