Acquisition note

Transferred to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre in 1995 and 1997 with the winding up of the Trust, by Max Blythe and Tony Durham

Biographical note

Set up in the early 1980s by the Government with funding of £11 million from the Tobacco Industry for Health Promotion and Research (exclusive of tobacco products), and was wound up in the mid-1990s when the funding came to an end. It sponsored a number of research projects to do with health promotion. Its work led to 14 books as well as contributions to at least 10 more, leaflets for GPs, booklets on preventive care and similar publications, as well as holding symposia and forums. Note that this is only partly catalogued.
