The credit of Gowland’s Lotion, and the injunction under which it was received, would always have prevented Mr. Dickinson from fubmitting to any mode of public advertifement, had not a fpurious composition been obtruded on the world through the hack- nied and humiliating channel of a newfpaper. To prevent, then that difappointment which muft accrue to the public from the ineffi- cacy of fuch a preparation; to prevent, alfo, that difgrace which might attach itfelf to the genuine article, and, at the fame time, to preferve his property, he is compelled to adapt a limilar mode. The Lotion, which is the fubjeCl of the above Work, was ori¬ ginally invented by a Medical man, folely for the cure of Diseases in the Skin, generally termed Scorbutic. Its ufe, however, foon marked out for it a field far more extenfive; for on the felf fame principle of Medical Science that it eradicated thefe difeafes, it wa£ found by every perfon who had made ufe of it, to have fo cleared the Printed by J, S.
