Description

Fragile X metaphase. Human chromosome complement as seen at metaphase, showing Fragile X chromosome (indicated by arrow). In this disorder, a portion of a long arm of an X chromosome is deformed. In males, in whom the condition is not masked by the presence of a second, normal X chromosome, this leads to varying degrees of mental deficiency.
