The collection comprises of constitutional material, including statutes and bi-laws 1964-2000; executive committee minutes, 1982-2000; published bound programmes, proceedings and reports of the international congress, 1964-2000, as well as correspondence and papers regarding the preparation of the international congress, 1972-1980. In addition, reports from federation officers, 1984-2000; general correspondence, accounts and financial information; photographs of executive meetings and international congress and published papers on the subject of histochemisry and cytochemistry.

These papers were donated to the Library by the Federation's Archivist, J. R. Garrett, in 2004

Biographical note

An International Committee of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry was established on a provisional basis in 1960 and put on a formal footing in 1964. In 1976 it changed its name to become the International Federation of Societies for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry. The Federation aims to promote communication and co-operation among scientists who are interested in these fields of study.
