Filia Herodiadis dat caput Iohannis Baptistæ, iussu Herodis decollati, matri suæ in patina. Marci, 6, 27. P.P. Rubens pinx. ... Lettering continues: "Herodes vol van vreucht op sÿn Geboorten-Dach/ Geest voor een yd'le dans Iohannuis hooft en leven:/ Maer ach om dat hÿ meer den mensch als Godt ontsach/ Verandert al sÿn vreucht in tsidderen en beven". Lettering then repeated in French and German. "Dance Herodiades thy feet are shod. With pride, but stained with John Baptists blood,/ Trough Herods wil, who like the morning starre,/ Did mount on high, but fell as Lucifer"
