Improvements in or relating to Vapour Inhaling Apparatus. 10 A communication from Georg Julius Eugen Korzinger, Pharmaceutical Chemist, of Strehlener-strasse 40, I)resden-A, Empire of Germany. I, Alfred Julius Poult, of 111, Hatton Garden, in the County of London, Chartered Patent Agent, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascer¬ tained in and by the following statement: — o The present invention relates to an apparatus intended chief!y for use in inhal¬ ing the fumes of stramonium products for curative purposes against asthma and is represented in the accompanying drawings. The preparation is placed under a dome or hollow body o having an upper outlet d and an opening a at the bottom and is placed either on the base h or in a cup c. As soon as the preparation is lighted, a current of air is created which aids further combustion. This apparatus also offers the advantage that the vapours are effectively contained and leave the apparatus in a continuous well confined stream or column of vapour issuing from the outlet d, while a great portion of it would be uselessly wasted if burned in an unconfined space. For the purpose of inhalation the nose or mouth is placed over the outlet d which may if desired be taken in the mouth, when the nature of the vapours used will permit of this being done, in cases where energetic effects are required. The outer form of the body o is of no special importance. The cup c is not absolutely required. The one represented in the accoin- 20 panying drawings is provided with air holes in the sides so as to admit a sufficient quantity of air to the burning preparation from the sides. The body o need not be fixedly connected with the base, but may be removably arranged so as to facilitate the removal of the parts used in the combustion. The outlet d may be also so arranged as to be provided with an elastic extension tube to be taken 2d in the mouth or held under the nose. 15 Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of this said invention, as communicated to me by my foreign correspondent, and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is: — 1. Apparatus for use in inhaling vapours for medical purposes, consisting 30 of a hollow body provided at its base with an opening for introducing the pre¬ paration, the fumes of which are to be inhaled and at its upper part with an outlet through which the fumes are to issue, substantially as described. 2.
