Project Summary:How do medical experts and writers explore the human body in fact, fiction and memoir? From the work of forensic anthropologists and the groundbreaking publication of Gray’s Anatomy to the very personal insight of patients, writers and campaigners, the human body has been presented to readers in many different contexts. Uniting high-profile specialists and bestselling authors, this project explores issues relating to medicine, the body and writing in the unique intellectual and cultural setting of The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival. The Bodies strand will explore the medical context of a range of topics, stimulating accessible and thought-provoking discussion and debate.
