About this work

Description

Dr. Wyatt's notebook written during his time at the Molteno Institute, Cambridge, England. The book contains written experimental details of various biochemical laboratory techniques such as preparative electrophoresis and Dische tests. It predominantly contains the descriptions and results of Dr. Wyatt's experiments to prepare and analyse various nucleic acid samples. Results are shown from tests on nucleic acids from the virus LdV and the insect Locusta migratoria. This notebook contains Dr. Wyatt's first calculation of the molar ratios of the bases adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine in DNA, giving evidence for the base pairing of AT and GC bases (25th October 1949).
