Savage's first book A Savage Enquiry: Who Controls Childbirth was first publishing in 1986 by Virago Press. In the book, she discusses the run up to, the proceedings and the aftermath of the enquiry into her alleged incompetence. She also gives a brief biography and description of her training as an obstetrician. This subseries contains material relating to the production of the book, including draft manuscrips, corrections, correspondence and material relating to the publication of a companion volume of support letters she received from members of the public, colleagues, friends etc. (see PP/WDS/A.3).
