Biographical note

The first involvement of an Artist in Residence working with patients at Crichton Royal Hospital was in 1988, when an artist based at Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries spent time working with patients on art projects. In 1997 the first Crichton Royal Hospital Artist in Residence was appointed to work with patients on a range of art activities. The work produced by the Artists in Residence went on display at the hospital and in some cases in external exhibitions.
