Improvements in or relating to the Treatment of Plastic Material for Pills and the like and in Apparatus therefor I Richard Gibbins 155 Uttoxeter New Road Derby Wholesale Druggist do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows; —- This invention consists essentially in introducing masses of pill or other pre¬ paration between & subjecting them to the action of two travelling vertical 5 bands or surfaces set at the desired distance apart. In constructing apparatus according to this invention, two pairs of rollers are mounted at a certain suitable distance apart one above the other, with their axes horizontal on a suitable frame. The rollers may be made of wood or other suitable material, and suitable 10 means are provided whereby they may be rotated so that the belts will travel in opposite directions. Around both pairs of rollers are arranged endless bands consisting of trans¬ verse strips of steel or other suitable material. The strips may be of any desired width or length, and may be either jointed directly to one another, so as to form 15 a flexible metal band or fastened in close proximity to one another on to a band of leather or other flexible material. The vertical run of the bands is prefer¬ ably supported at intermediate parts by additional rollers in order to prevent undue sagging of the surface when in use. . .. The mean distance between the belts may be varied within any desired limits. 20 Masses of the said preparation are fed into the upper end of the vertical travelling belts one after the other and are carried downwards to the lower end. The mutual action of the belts reduces the irregular shaped masses of the pre¬ paration into cylindrical length of cord like appearance. These cylindrical lengths are collected as they emerge from the lower end of the apparatus into a suitable reseptacle, previous to being subjected to the action of revolving rollers (of which I have already applied for Patent Number 17112 August 6th 1903 and formed into pills by any of the well known processes.
