Biographical note
The South East Regional Office of the Family Planning Association came into being in 1976 and pioneered the FPA's first self-referral women's health clinic.
In 1989 financial constraints forced the FPA to withdraw funding but due to high demand, it was decided to launch a new Association to carry on the work: the Women's Health Association was registered as a company in 1989 and received charitable status in 1990.
