Warrant from James II to George Jeffreys, 1st Baron Jeffreys, on his appointment as Lord Chancellor, authorizing him to issue, under the Great Seal, grants of the custody of idiots, lunatics and their estates, following inquisitions under the auspices of the High Court of Chancery. Signed by Robert Spencer, and Earl of Sunderland, as Secretary of State, and by the King. Produced in Windsor.
