About this work
Statement of a Case against Richard Reece, M.D. for Libel on Dr. Edward Jenner in an article published in the 'Medical Observer' for June, 1808. With holograph 'Counsel's Opinion' by Sir Codrington Edmund Carrington, and a holograph addition, comprising a few amendments to the text, in Murray's hand. The article accused Dr. Jenner of quackery and fraudulent financial claims. Sir C. E. Carrington's 'Opinion' was that there was no case. Produced in London.
1 volume 4 ll. (last bl.). atlas folio. 411/2 × 321/2 cm. Unbound. Written on the rectos only.
Purchased at Sotheby's 27/11/1918, Lot 1003A
The case was presumably drawn up by Charles Murray, whose name appears on the cover, for Carrington's opinion.
Probably from the papers of Charles Murray and the Royal Jennerian Society acquired by Mockler in 1894.
