091341/Z/10/Z: The Rap Guide to Evolution

Project Summary:“The Rap Guide to Evolution” is a critically acclaimed hip-hop theatre show that debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2009, winning the Scotsman Fringe First Award for Outstanding New Writing. The show was written and performed by rap artist Baba Brinkman. The Guide, teaching evolutionary biology through the medium of hiphop storytelling, was recorded in 2009 as a professional-quality studio album, consisting of twelve music tracks plus four “interludes” recorded live at performances. The current project will result in the creation and public distribution of videos for all twelve of the music tracks. They will be promoted to educators and public education venues such as museums.
