About this work

Description

The Reprints - Others subseries (SB/7/2) is comprised of reprints collected by Sydney Brenner. The majority of the reprints in the subseries were collected while Brenner was employed at the Medical Research Council (MRC), and many appear to have belonged to Francis Crick (who shared an office with Brenner at MRC from the 1950s to the early 1970s). The subseries is arranged alphabetically by author. Brenner and Crick often underlined the author under which the reprint was meant to be filed; as a result some reprints are not filed under the first author of the paper. The reprints date from 1934-2001. The series spans 44 manuscript boxes. The voluminous collection illustrates the importance of reprint libraries in 20th century scientific laboratories.
