Description

Section of spinal cord from a rat stained with silver stain. Large nerve cells (neurones; brown/yellow) as well as the network of dendrites and nerve fibres within the spinal cord are visible here. The spinal cord connects the brain with the peripheral nervous system and is a pathway for sharing information between the two. Width of image is 600 micrometres.
