Biographical note
The compiler of this album seems to have been Hubert Eléonore Napoleon Philibert Philippe Alfred Guichon de Grandpont, whose initials 'A.G. de G.' are found in several places, together with entries by his hand. He was Commissaire Général de la Marine at Brest. Coste was a member of the Académie de Médecine, was elected to the chair of comparative anatomy at the Collège de France in 1844, and was President of the Académie des Sciences in 1871.
