Out-letter book, containing copies of letters sent by Daniel Hanbury to correspondents overseas, on the Continent and throughout the world, concerning his researches in botany, materia medica and pharmacology.

Correspondents include Alexander von Bunge (1803–1890), Russian botanist, N.J.B.G. Guibourt (1790–1867), French pharmacist, T.W.C. Martius, German pharmacist, J.E. Planchon (1823–1888), French pharmacologist and botanist, Professor August H.R. Grisebach (1814–1879), German botanist, Natalis Rondot, French specialist on Chinese silks, Professor William Procter (1817–1874), American pharmacist, Sidney H Maltass, of Smyrna, Richard Spruce (1817–1893), botanist and traveller, Alexander Gobson (1800–1867), botanist at Bombay, Eyre Nicholas Champion de Crespigny (1821–1895), assistant surgeon at Rutnagherry, India, Hugh Francis Clarke Cleghorn (1820–1895), surgeon at Madras, William Freeman Daniell (1818–1865), botanist in Hong Kong, Robert Lambert Playfair (1828–1899), author and colonial administrator, Sir Robert Hermann Schomburgk (1804–1865), British consul at Bangkok, Henry Fletcher Hance (1827–1886), botanist in Hong Kong, George Henry Kendrick Thwaites (1812–1882), botanist in Ceylon, and Alfred Russel Wallace (1823–1913).
