    GENERAL OBSERVATIONS. To the Corporation of Evesham, and the Evesham, Eershore, and Eeckenham Rural Districts. Gentlemen, As you have again decided to publish my Annual Reports for 1911 in a joint pamphlet, I continue the practice of making some “ General Observations” upon some matters which apply to each of your Districts. Scope of Report,—Character of District, Systematic Inspection— Midwives and Notification of Births Acts,— Weekly Notification of Disease. These subjects are dealt with at length in my last Annual Report, so it seems unnecessary to vepeat what I then said. The Census. The decennial census was taken in April last. So far however only a “preliminary abstract” of the statistical details have been published, which gives the population of Sanitary Districts as a whole, but not of the constituent parishes. Evesham Borough 7101 8341 1240 Evesham Rural District 7584 9095 1511 Pershore Rural District 12819 13235 416 Feckenham Rural District. . 5532 5455 — 77 This shows that the population of each district under review except Feckenham increased during the last decade, and particularly that of the two Evesham districts, which no doubt is due to the prosperity of market gardening. As the 1901 census showed a declining population in Pershore District, it is satisfactory to find that a slight increase has latterly occurred.
