Description
The material here consists of an unpublished paper by Dr Robertson analysing his first five years of examining claimants for Mobility Allowance; four notebooks, three of which, 'Mobility' 4, 5, 6, are subsequent to the writing of the paper, containing assessments of named individual patients - these are closed; tabulated data relating to examination of claimants for Disability Allowance in the mid-1980s.

This material was given to the library at Wellcome Collection by Dr Robertson, a retired general practitioner formerly in practice in Bournemouth, (via Dr J MacMullan) in May 2002.
Biographical note
Graham M. Robertson was a general practitioner in Bournemouth.
The Mobility Allowance was introduced on 1 Jan 1976. Robertson was referred patients, mainly from the Bournemouth area, by the Department of Health and Social Security Mobility Allowance Unit for an opinion as to whether they were eligible for this according to the medical requirements.

At Wellcome Collection: Dr Robertson was interviewed by Michael Bevan for his 'Oral History of General Practice' (GP/29): the tapes are available, GP/29/7 and can be listened to in the Library subject to the usual conditions of access to Archive and Manuscript materials, but there is no surviving transcript.
