Correspondence regarding a lecture ("What Does DNA Do?") and a seminar ("Is DNA Really a Double Helix?") delivered at University of New York at Albany, 19 May, 1978.

An abstract for the seminar is included: "It has been claimed that DNA is not a true double helix but has a side-by-side structure. By considering various experiments involving the supercoiling of circular DNA it can be shown that the two chains do indeed coil around one another as originally proposed."

In a letter to Professor Leonard S Lerman (24 January, 1978), Crick notes: "Michael Levitt, Leslie and I are still interested in the configuration of supercoiled DNA but so far haven't made much progress. Otherwise I'm learning about the nervous system. It's uphill work - there's so much of it."
