Biographical note
Savage received her medical training at the London Hospital Medical College from 1957 and worked there on several temporary bases prior to her appointment as locum leccturer and honorary senior registrar in 1976. She was suspended from her posts there in 1985 but was reinstated the following year following her enquiry.
On her return to work, in response to the recommendations of the Munro Report, the structure of the obstetrics and gynaecology department was changed to incorporate two "Firms", although the system took much longer than anticipated to establish.
