Biographical note
The steering group for the establishment of a British Blood Transfusion Society was created in 1981. The steering group, chaired by Stratton, held its first meeting in April 1982 at which it drafted its constitution. A circular letter was sent to potential founder members in 1983 and the inaugural meeting held in Cambridge in 15-17 December 1983.
