About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Linear style, depicting a man in a landscape fishing. It was produced by a male patient at a psychiatric day hospital. Rita Simon made the following comments about the artwork: "A fascinating picture: the road turns into a tree because it won't lie down. The man who painted it allowed it to be a tree, didn't force it to lie down and become a bridge over the water". This information has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The title has been supplied by the cataloguer for identification purposes.

The work is undated
