About this work

Description

Presscuttings, pasted onto loose leaves (probably once housed in ring binders), including some articles and reports by M'Gonigle himself and reviews of his publications. They are from a range of publications, including medical and public health journals such as National Health, Medical Officer, Municipal Engineering and Maternity and Child Welfare; newspapers, including local papers from the north-east such as The North Eastern Daily Gazette , The Darlington and Stockton Timesand The Northern Echo; government and other official reports; and a range of specialist publications such as The Grocers Gazette, The Box Makers' Journal, The Contractors Record, The School Government Chronicle, The Public Assistance Journal and The Meat Trades Journal. They cover a range of public health and other topics including maternity and child welfare, rickets, infectious diease, the care of 'cripples', sanitation, school health, open-air schools, housing, slum clearance, education, food safety, industrial health and angling. The issues of nutrition, housing and family budgets dominate the cuttings from 1933 and 1934 which are taken from a wider range of national and local press sources.

Arrangement

Although the cuttings were in considerable dissaray, some groupings suggest that they were once kept in a rough chronological order and they have thus been grouped by date.
