Description

Fly-poster giving notice of the arrival of the botánico in the City and of his services to poor patients suffering from any illness. Francisco Xavier de Balmis [1753-1819], later Director of the Real Expedición Marítima de la Vacuna, derived the use of the roots of the Agave americana and the Begonia balmisiana from the same Nicolás de Biana, curandero of Pátzcuaro, as a remedy for syphilis.
