About this work

Description

Interleaved copies of parts of Vol. I of Cullen's First lines of the Practice of Physic: from different editions. With additions and corrections on the interleaves, perhaps by Cullen himself. The first volume contains Part I, Books I, II ending at Section 3 No. CCLIV, pp. viii-200. Edinburgh. Printed for W. Creech and J. Murray, London. MDCCLXXVII. The last two sections are wanting. In the second volume there is of course no title-page. It contains Part I. Book III. Ownership note

A former owner, in a pencilled note written inside the lower cover of Vol. II, suggests that the notes on the inter-leaves may be by Cullen himself. On the verso of the fly-leaf of Vol. I 'J. Power Edinen[s]is[?], and 'J. Power' in print above the Title: also 'J. Power Junr'. On the verso of the first leaf of Vol. II 'J. Power Junr' and below 'J. Power. Sol[o]m[on] Paisleys Chap[e]l Street': under this a pasted-in engraved label 'John Power. Polesworth'. A John Power M.D. of Atherstone, also in Warwickshire, died in 1847 in his 90th year.
