Photograph of an oil painting by G. Matthews, of Sir William Withey Gull (1816-1890), English physician, with lettering. The painting was acquired at auction from Bonhams on 24th September 1915, Lot 633, and accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 8th January 1930 (CC 5121). Another photograph of this image was accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 2nd June 1939 (PHO 11521).
