Biographical note

Alper was selected to train as a physiotherapist whilst in the Royal Army Medical Corps during World War Two. He came top of his class, winning the Colonel’s Prize (£10) and went on to run a physiotherapy unit at Rushbrooke Hall Convalescent Hospital mainly for soldiers wounded in the Desert War. Given that men were not permitted membership until 1942, Alper was one of the earliest members. After being demobbed in 1945, Alper went on to run his own practice. These items were given to the CSP by his widow.
