This is a file of printed and typescript material relating to the stance of Quakers, in York and nationally, in relation to the war, conscription and recruiting, and their activities within the war period. Most material is 1913 - 1916. Included are First Report of the Friends' Ambulance Unit, 1914 - 1915; First Report of the War Victims Relief Committee of the Society of Friends 1914 - 1915; nine pamphlets published by the Society of Friends War Victims Relief Committee; Northern Friends Peace Board Monthly Newsletter July 1914; copies of decisions recorded in the minutes of York Preparative Meeting re. the war; pages from The Friend, re. the war; pages of bank book for Friends War Victims Relief Fund, 1918 - 1919.
