Description

Painting of a First Nation man from either British Columbia or Alberta wearing a headdress and holding a drum, by Wilfred Langdon Kihn c.1926. The painting was given the title "West Coast Indian Drummer" in the catalogue for an exhibition of drawings and paintings held by Langdon Kihn 26 January-26 February 1929 at the Nipnichsen Club in New York (see WA/HSW/CO/Ind/A/4). The painting was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum but was sold at auction (Sotheby's Toronto, 26-28 October 1970, lot 251).
