A single volume list chemicals (colour dyes) received from outside suppliers with comments. Pages divided by colour headings ("Blue", "Brown", "Grey", "Green", "Red", "Violet", "Yellow", and "Chemicals").
The book is stamped inside front fly-leaf: "Burroughs Wellcome & Co General Library". There is a date note above this, and to front cover: "Book Begun Oct. 1 1889 / Closed Oct 31st 1893". The volume therefore pre-dates both the Chemical Research Laboratory and the Physiological Research Laboratory.
